An intercept tool developed by NSO Group that can be installed with a zero-click exploit without the user's knowledge on mobile devices running many versions of iOS and Android. Its capabilities include call tracking, credential theft, reading text messages, geolocation, accessing an infected device's microphone and camera, and information harvesting information from mobile applications. Pegasus is described by its vendor as a lawful intercept tool, but widespread abuse by repressive governments has led to the software coming to be known simply as spyware.
